This week's spotlight - Mary Goulden
Originally from Yorkshire Mary came to live in the Scottish Borders in 1975 in order to further her career in nursing.
Through her enjoyment of hill walking her love of the Borders landscape has grown and grown. Mary has also been inspired by her many visits to the West Highlands and the Isle of Skye.
In the past year Mary has found further pleasure in teaching others her self-taught skills.
Mary started painting in 2003 and has been exhibiting in galleries throughout the Scottish Borders ever since.
Her favourite medium is pastel as she enjoys the tactile nature of working with this particular medium and the wide range of effects that can be achieved.
“As one of the longest established artists in our Gallery, it always gives us great pleasure to see and display Mary’s new pieces although they seldom stay on display for long due to there immense appeal to both local customers and those from all over the world.”
