This week's spotlight - Fiona Kingdon
Fiona creates works suggested by the wood itself in which she finds, the landscapes, their inhabitants, stories she loves. Fiona lives in land locked Northamptonshire, but treasures trees, mountains and most of all the sea.
Fiona studied Industrial Design, Craftsmanship and Furniture Restoration, but put her creative side on hold for a few years dedicating her time to family and supporting young people with additional needs. Now, she depicts landscapes and ideas through intricate scrollwork cut in reclaimed and native timbers. Exploring what imagery the timber offers up, or simply weaving the beauty of the wood into her designs.
Fiona also uses veneers to create sculptural lighting inspired by natural forms. She has led scrollwork workshops for excluded pupils, and is a member of the Northamptonshire Guild of Designer Craftsman and has work with galleries country wide.
“Fiona’s work is both beautiful and intricate, reflecting the care and many hours she spends on each piece. From “windswept trees” to multilayered creations using various wood types and colours. We are proud to display Fiona’s work in our Gallery being one of the most popular within our large portfolio of artists”. David H Wallace – Gallery Owner
