Having had a career in teaching art in secondary schools Elizabeth has been retired for 17years. During that period she exhibited in the surrounding radius of towns and cities near which she was living. This included 5 annual solo water colour exhibitions in Sydney on the University campus in the nineteen nineties.
Since the year 2000, more experimental work has come to play and that has included sculpture and painting in a more expressive manner using acrylic. Painting influences have been predominantly from the summer landscapes and seascapes seen when on holiday on the west coast of Scotland. Using photographs, sketches and memories, the work is produced in layers of built up paint, sometimes translucent and usually combined with impasto techniques with more detail painted at the final stages.
