Having lived in the Borders for much of the past 20 years, it was after moving to Peebles, Edith began a fascinating journey in silversmithing leading to promoting her own handmade jewellery designs. These are made in her home studio using traditional techniques and tools such as hammers, drills, metal and wood. The collections range from small ear-studs and rings to bangles and necklaces, sometimes one-off designs. The heavier items bear her Edinburgh hallmark.
A particular feature of many designs is the creation of a range of interesting textures on metal using every day materials such as fabric, paper and string or leaves and seeds found on walks around Peebles. She works mostly in silver, using touches of gold, semiprecious gemstones and freshwater pearls to highlight a design and turns plain sterling silver sheet and wire into unique pieces which are affordable and comfortable for everyday wear at any age.
