Amanda Owenson

I grew up in Prestonpans, East Lothian, graduating from The Scottish College of Textiles in Galashiels in 1984 with a degree in Fashion Design with Management.

I have always been creative and returned to painting in 2016 as a way of relieving the stress of a very high pressured job.
When I was made redundant through structure changes at work in Spring 2018, it felt like the universe had decided I should turn my passion for painting into a full time career.

Working from my full time studio in Prestonpans, my work is inspired by any landscape that speaks to me, either through the way the light falls, the hidden colours, or purely by the emotions I feel when standing in front of the view.

From seascapes to treescapes, there is almost always an the element of water or big skies, but it all depends on the mood of the day!
